From Soil to Souvenir: EVERRICH Shares the Spirit of Taiwan

Airports serve as both the first impression and final memory for international travelers visiting Taiwan. As the country’s most influential cultural gateways, they offer a unique platform to connect newcomers with the depth of Taiwan’s identity. A fixture at this national touchpoint, EVERRICH Duty Free has long partnered with outstanding Taiwanese brands to transform stories of the land, the richness of local culture, and the dedication of industries into curated products and meaningful experiences that resonate with global travelers.

Beyond selecting premium local brands to feature in the airport, our employees also directly engage in the co-creation process. By working alongside our partners on regional revitalization projects, our frontline staff gain firsthand knowledge of product origins, brand philosophies, and the craftsmanship behind them – weaving these insights into powerful stories they share with audiences from around the world.

Inside our stores, we craft immersive experiences that reflect the warmth and flavor of Taiwan – through thoughtful spatial design, brand storytelling, cuisine using local ingredients, engaging interactive elements, and authentic narratives from our staff. These layered encounters allow travelers to form a deep and lasting connection with the land.

Since August 2023, EVERRICH has collaborated with Duaho Rice, a smallholder brand from Dayuan District in Taoyuan City, to launch a farm-to-table initiative at the airport. This premium rice, once named among Taiwan’s Top 10 Classic Rices, is now served at our airport restaurants, enabling international travelers to savor its exceptional quality. The direct-sourcing approach not only ensures freshness and taste but also drastically reduces transport distances – cutting approximately 1,277 kg of carbon emissions in just four months, fulfilling both sustainability and carbon-reduction goals.

Yet EVERRICH’s sustainability strategy goes far beyond procurement. Executives and culinary teams personally visited local rice farms to understand the realities of organic agriculture. President Kevin Chiang and his team rolled up their sleeves to plant and harvest rice, directly engaging with the resilience and craftsmanship of Taiwanese farmers. These immersive experiences help foster a deeper connection between the company and the communities it serves.

Our regional revitalization efforts extend beyond food into skincare and gifts. For instance, we partnered with Taiwanese mask brand TTM to host a “Sustainable Rose Journey,” where EVERRICH employees visited organic rose farms in Kaohsiung’s Shanlin District to go deep into the full aroma-making process. In collaboration with herbal soap brand YUAN, we explored the wormwood fields of Yangmingshan and took part in the 18 soap-making steps, developing a more profound respect for both the plants and the artisans behind the brand.

In Yilan’s Nan’ao, we joined Cha Tzu Tang tea seed plantation to remove invasive vines and take part in ecological farming that supports local biodiversity. From early-morning tea picking to observing the creation of iconic pineapple pastries in Changhua’s orchards, these moments of teamwork strengthened our internal alignment with sustainability and ESG principles.

We at EVERRICH believe that only by walking the land and truly understanding each brand’s origin story can we convey their value and emotional resonance to travelers around the world. From a bowl of rice at the airport to a bar of soap in the restroom or a facial mask in a travel kit – each product reflects a piece of Taiwan’s land and its people.

For 30 years, EVERRICH has remained true to its mission: to tell Taiwan’s story at every possible turn and to connect its heritage with the international community through meaningful action – bringing the beauty of Taiwan to the global stage.
