Lunar New Year is one of Taiwan’s busiest travel seasons, as families journey far and wide to reunite and usher in the new year together. The highlight of this celebration is the big reunion dinner on Lunar New Year’s Eve, a time when homes are decorated with red couplets, lanterns, and intricate paper cuttings to ward off evil spirits and bringing health and prosperity to loved ones. Before the feast, families honor their ancestors with offerings of meats and wine so that they can also enjoy a celebration feast. The reunion dinner itself is the grand finale where several generations gather around round tables to share a huge feast. The evening continues with beloved traditions like giving red envelopes to children, setting off firecrackers, and staying up late, savoring every moment together as a family under one roof.

This year’s Lunar New Year takeout sets feature a collection of festive feasts, expertly crafted by the chefs from Silks Hotel Group’s renowned hotel restaurants. Wellspring by Silks Beitou introduces the Double Delight Platter with crispy spareribs and shrimp balls, and the Banquet Delicacies Platter featuring mullet roe and foie gras. The Premium Abalone Buddha Jumps Over the Wall delivers tender abalone in a rich broth, while the Prosperous Taro Delight combines taro paste with Jinhua ham and dried lychee.

Silks House presents the Cantonese Collagen and Abalone Feast, with the Cantonese Treasure Platter, Pan-Seared Pomfret, and Hong Kong-Style Lobster Noodles. The Slow-Simmered Abalone and Chicken Soup warms the palate, and the Bird’s Nest Ginger Egg White Tart adds a silky, elegant dessert.

Lan Ting’s Shanghai Lobster and Abalone Feast features the Shanghai Treasure Platter, Braised Lobster in Rice Wine Sauce, and Snow Cabbage Grouper, alongside Slow-Stewed Chicken with Abalone and Sticky Rice.

Regent Taipei’s Banquet Hall offers the Chef’s Lobster Buddha Jumps Over the Wall Feast, with the Premium Abalone Soup, Taiwanese Treasure Assortment, and Pan-Seared Pomfret.
